Stained glass work & courses
This summer has flown by with so much going on. I have have done a tremendous amount of work for myself this year in and out of the studio. My personal work is as important as my commissions as it all becomes connected through line work, design and paint. I am currently working on three windows for a private commission, the clients love foxgloves and I am eager to do the flowers in glass painting. Some projects take longer than others depending on so many factors and that is fine with me. I do not rush my customers I help them to understand the nature of glass and therefore see the outcome in beautiful colour and design. As a lover of the Arts and Crafts movement this quote by William Morris still holds strong,
‘ Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful.” – William Morris.
I teach individual students glass painting which is great for them and also good for me as I can tailor the course to their needs. I believe in the individual person’s creativity and their confidence levels soar once there is an understanding of the medium. I teach small classes of 2 or 3 students and new dates will be up on my website this weekend !!
New Work
I am currently working on new paintings and some smaller stained glass panels. I will release some news about new cards and prints soon. These I will put up on my social media of Instagram and FB. They will be available from me directly. New work is part of my growth and my life, it is a way for us artists to expand, branch out and communicate. I sometimes take ages to finish a painting as I sketch before hand several times over before the final piece. My sketch books of different sizes are filling up this year with mostly plants, flowers, insects and nature. There is nothing like finding a good place to sit and immersing myself in the drawing, looking and seeing. It is also a good way to slow down and be in that moment. I hope to make my panel from these drawings for the BSMGP …..

News
Some of you will remember I wrote about my auto immune condition. I have been taking time to really focus on my health and well being and I am feeling better than before. Steady work and lifestyle changes have improved my health. I shall continue to look after myself and work in stained glass and painting which I love !
Take care to all you artists this Autumn and Winter, look after yourselves, keep cosy and keep drawing !
