Autumn/Winter 2022
Fall back, Spring forward As I sit here to write about the past months I realize they have flown by in the wink of an eye. The clocks went back last weekend here in England and we are truly on our way to winter now being the beginning of November. My friends in Quebec, Canada where I lived for many years are only four hours difference instead of the usual five hours. This will change in a few weeks when their clocks 'fall back'. I am happy that I made the long awaited journey to see friends … [Read more...]
Wintertime & Spring 2021
Challenges and Gratefulness It has been a challenging last year in many ways for us all. Hope is on the horizon so that in the next few months we should all see a better pathway as Covid 19 loosens it's grip. Stained Glass commissions continue to be designed and made here in the studio. Private commissions and also repairs to existing glazing in between other works. I have several new commissions, one in Wimbledon, London and a transom window in a fabulous Edwardian doorway which is local to … [Read more...]
Commissons this Summer
Commissions Beavering away is the best way to describe activity this summer at the studio. The swallows in the eaves of the next door store room, chatter away all day long. When out flying their high pitch hum and song can be heard consistently in the summer air. They do inspire me as do the other birds and dogs which wander around and about to see what I am doing. It has been a busy summer so far for stained glass commissions! I have completed the 'Autumn' panel and am finishing 'Winter' of … [Read more...]
A snowy start to Spring
Commissions Since the wintery cold set in around December it has consistently made sub zero temperatures at the studio. Especially the three day snowstorm! Once warmed up and kettle bubbling early on I stay warm working on my commissions. I have completed Spring and Summer of the four seasons project for a private home in Bradford on Avon. I am making cartoons of Autumn and Winter so they will soon be underway. The cornish seascape for a new oak door in Corsham is a stained glass that has … [Read more...]

Exhibition 23rd June 2017
Lately I have been doing restoration work and new commissions. I am taking part in the outdoor exhibition at the BOA Arts Festival which begins this weekend. In this exhibition I show stained glass and fused hand painted glass work. My workshop where I make windows of stained glass for private or public places is cool in the hot weather, thank goodness. On the farm the swallows swoop around the yard, flying into my workshop too! At the workshop one of my design's has been approved and a brand … [Read more...]
December blues & Brightening days
Restoration and Repairs My stained glass workshop has a lot of restoration work and repairs! The windows I am restoring at the moment are from the bell tower of St Anne's, Bowden hill, Wiltshire. They are leaded lights, glass quarries using antique glass from EAG in Birmingham (English Antique glass). I also replicate the painted broken stained glass which are painted and stained in the traditional manner of the 13th century. Restoring the windows of historic buildings and churches will give … [Read more...]
English Summertime
The last few months I have visited buildings in need of restoration and new stained glass work. I have meandered through routes to little villages, chapels and churches. I have visited new places, talked with people eager to restore or have a new stained glass in their building or home. A rewarding warming time in more ways than one. Glass Repairs I have made repairs to a huge tiffany lamp will bring back years of warmth through colour and light. I have also made repairs using conservation … [Read more...]
Waking up Spring
It is the 1st of February a slow awakening of the earth into warmer days making new stained glass. For the past few months I have glazed windows and enjoyed teaching. CPD Award I have been working at Andrew Taylor's studio to complete my cpd award, which I won from the Worshipful company of glaziers. Finally, I have completed my report about glass painting, a finishing of this episode and I am planning my events for the year ahead.
