Hello to all fellow creatives in the southern and northern hemispheres I hope you are well. This past year has been full of surprises, so I have had to slow down and take stock. I had an immune system health problem which took me by storm and therefore I have had to change my lifestyle completely. I am sure many people have these personal health issues for which we must change our way of thinking, working, foods, lifestyle to change ourselves for the better. Mind, body and spirit ! Fortunately I … [Read more...]
Summer 2022
Spring flowers brings forth May flowers I have been meditating on what to say first in this summer blog at my stained glass studio, I have had so many wonderful moments to celebrate in the past months. The weather is sun, wind and rain but it is so nice to have the door of the workshop open. Here in Trowbridge, Wiltshire it feels like a good place to work quite industrious and busy. It is manageable in my smaller workshop but I am expanding already ! We are surrounded by the countryside where … [Read more...]
Wintertime & Spring 2021
Challenges and Gratefulness It has been a challenging last year in many ways for us all. Hope is on the horizon so that in the next few months we should all see a better pathway as Covid 19 loosens it's grip. Stained Glass commissions continue to be designed and made here in the studio. Private commissions and also repairs to existing glazing in between other works. I have several new commissions, one in Wimbledon, London and a transom window in a fabulous Edwardian doorway which is local to … [Read more...]
Summer/Autumn in Wiltshire, England.
What a mysterious and surprising summer I have had at the studio in Trowbridge, Wiltshire. It was something of a much slower pace than I have been used to working, this was to the past months, the unrest of covid19 and it's effect on so many businesses including my own. But happy to say I have continued throughout and in the past two months I have never seen my inbox look so busy ! Wonderful people who need their doors repaired or new commissions designed and I can be of service again fully and … [Read more...]
Winter in Canada/Springtime in England 2020
The past three months have been innovative, adventurous and inspiring. I travelled to the South shore of Montreal to stay and work. This January I taught a class at Studio du Verre in the copper foil method. My class of seven students were lively and intrigued they achieved a lovely colourful panel each of approx 12'' x 9''. It was wonderful teaching in Quebec and therefore in Quebecois and English, we had fun. I am happy to say I am back in England and have an assortment of commissions and … [Read more...]
Autumnal colours and wintery winds
The Autumn leaves are gently falling and piling up in the corners everywhere for scurrying animals to hide in or take as extra bedding for the winter days. I have completed my time here at Woolley grange farm studios, it has been six years and it has flown by with so many busy days, fun students sessions, blood, sweat and tears. I have loved every minute of it!! Angle of Light Stained Glass will continue once I have moved completely and landed in Quebec, Canada where I once had a studio and will … [Read more...]
Springtime News from Angle of Light 2019
How the winter flew here at the studio on Woolley grange farm! I have completed a brand new work, a large stained glass window in memory of Laurence Glye Hodson and his wife Marjorie Elizabeth Hodson. It is for the beautiful chapel of St Peter's, Petersham, Surrey. It took around four and a half months to complete the new work and the opening night was filled with warmth and joy. It is so lovely after months of deliberating and working hard to achieve exactly the desired effects that the stained … [Read more...]
Commissons this Summer
Commissions Beavering away is the best way to describe activity this summer at the studio. The swallows in the eaves of the next door store room, chatter away all day long. When out flying their high pitch hum and song can be heard consistently in the summer air. They do inspire me as do the other birds and dogs which wander around and about to see what I am doing. It has been a busy summer so far for stained glass commissions! I have completed the 'Autumn' panel and am finishing 'Winter' of … [Read more...]
A snowy start to Spring
Commissions Since the wintery cold set in around December it has consistently made sub zero temperatures at the studio. Especially the three day snowstorm! Once warmed up and kettle bubbling early on I stay warm working on my commissions. I have completed Spring and Summer of the four seasons project for a private home in Bradford on Avon. I am making cartoons of Autumn and Winter so they will soon be underway. The cornish seascape for a new oak door in Corsham is a stained glass that has … [Read more...]
Mid-winter windows of glass
Inspiration The workshop has been a hive of activity since the Autumn. I have new commissions of stained glass windows for brand new homes and new refurbished character cottages. The evenings have drawn in now and the ice forms beautifully on the top of the troughs of water here on the farm. The puddles on the ground and the frost on the windows form intricate patterns like my paint when I mix it on the slabs of glass. The pied wagtails have taken roost in the roof tops of the barn across the … [Read more...]
