I went for a walk today the 26th December down by the Avon and Kennet Canal. All the narrow boats and barges were tucked into the muddy bank, curtains or blinds drawn tight smoke curling from the stacks, not much sign of life. It speaks volumes at this time of year when the days are still fairly dark and either bitter winds or damp cold rain pours steadily down the window panes. I go for a walk on a different path everyday during the holiday time with my son Leo. We look out for birds, animals, signs of nature growing and changing. This is still an inspirational time of year even with the low cloud and the shadows darker than usual in the home, we make light whether it’s ‘led’ or candles (especially at Christmas) and write, draw and create which ever way we wish. It is incredible in this part of the world, Wiltshire, how many berries are still on the trees and how the branches are full with chirping and singing birds. Beautiful, wonderful life bursting at the seams !
